Privacy Policy for Image Uploads and Search Data
Learn how ImageReverse handles uploaded files, technical logs, metadata, external search providers, editorial records, and privacy requests.
Privacy summary
File tools
Metadata and comparison files are stored privately for up to 30 days and are not published.
Image search
Exact repeat uploads can reuse a saved lookup and results without repeating processing.
Your choice
Do not submit a sensitive image unless you have permission and understand why the file needs to be processed.
Uploaded images
The Image Metadata Checker, Image Comparison Tool, and image-search tools store submitted images in owner-only private storage for up to 30 days. Files are deduplicated by a cryptographic fingerprint. The same exact image and search settings can reuse a saved lookup and its results, avoiding duplicate processing. Query files are not exposed through a public upload URL.
The analysis response may show a filename, format, dimensions, aspect ratio, file size, selected metadata fields, and a SHA-256 fingerprint. The comparison tool converts files into temporary grayscale representations for the active request. Do not submit an image unless you have authority to process it.
External search providers
When a broader web search is enabled, ImageReverse stores returned source references for up to 30 days so an exact repeated search can reuse them. The same source-access controls apply to saved and newly returned results.
A public image URL can also be opened on a labeled external search provider after a separate user action. External providers process requests under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their collection, retention, account association, regional availability, or search results. Review the selected provider's policy before sending sensitive material.
Metadata and sensitive images
Image metadata can contain location and device information. Do not upload intimate, confidential, or restricted content unless you have authority and accept the processing risk.
Consider making a redacted search copy when account details, bystanders, children, addresses, documents, or location clues are irrelevant to the task. Preserve the untouched original separately if it may be needed as evidence.
Editorial and operational records
Published articles may retain their title, slug, body, cover image, publication schedule, and external library identifier. Correction correspondence and rights notices may be retained as needed to investigate and document the request. Production hosts may also keep security and error logs for operational purposes.
If you create a saved case or monitoring alert, ImageReverse stores the redacted evidence record, notes, monitored content identifier, source-count history, cadence, and any notification email you choose to verify. The email is used to deliver the requested alert. Shared case links contain redacted evidence and are accessible to anyone who receives the unguessable link, so do not put sensitive personal information in case notes.
A signed browser cookie reconnects the browser with its session. When you sign in with Google, saved cases, plan status, usage limits, monitoring registrations, and paid source entitlements are linked to the verified ImageReverse account instead of relying only on that browser. The cookie can persist for up to the configured browser-state period, currently 180 days.
Payments and source access
Stripe hosts one-time and recurring checkout and processes payment details under its own privacy terms. ImageReverse does not receive complete card numbers. It stores the signed result scope, Stripe customer, subscription, event, and payment-intent identifiers, selected plan and billing period, entitlement time, current subscription state, daily usage totals, and any later refund or dispute state needed to grant, limit, or revoke access.
Your choices
You can avoid the upload tools, use a public URL where appropriate, or leave the service before sending a file. To ask about personal data, a public result, or an image-rights issue, include the exact ImageReverse URL and enough context to locate the material. Do not email sensitive image files unless requested through an agreed secure method.
