Image Search Opt-Out and Removal Requests

Request review of an ImageReverse indexed result, understand what can be removed, and distinguish index removal from removal at the source website.

Choose the removal you actually need

ImageReverse result

Ask us to review a result or indexed record that appears in an ImageReverse search.

Source website

Contact the publisher or platform that hosts the original page or image.

Other search engines

Use the removal process provided by the search engine showing its own result.

Request an ImageReverse review

Email [email protected] for a personal privacy request or [email protected] when you own or represent rights in the image. Use a clear subject line such as “ImageReverse result review.”

Include the exact ImageReverse result or search context, the source page URL when known, the direct image URL when available, your relationship to the image, and the outcome you are requesting. A precise URL is more useful than a screenshot alone because the same image may appear on several unrelated pages.

What not to send in the first message

Do not initially email a passport, national identity card, financial record, intimate image, password, or account recovery code. Begin with the minimum information needed to locate the result. If proportionate verification is necessary, ImageReverse can explain what must be confirmed and provide a safer next step.

How a request is reviewed

  1. Locate the exact result, indexed image, and linked source record.
  2. Separate a personal privacy request from a copyright, impersonation, safety, or factual-correction request.
  3. Confirm that the requester has a reasonable connection to the image or affected rights without collecting unnecessary data.
  4. Review what ImageReverse controls and what remains controlled by the source publisher or another search provider.
  5. Apply the appropriate index action or explain the next route when another party controls the material.

A request is assessed on its facts and applicable obligations. Sending a request does not guarantee a particular outcome, but complete URLs and a narrow explanation make the review more accurate.

Index removal is not source removal

Removing or suppressing an ImageReverse result does not delete the image from the website that published it. The source site, platform, host, or account owner controls that copy. You may need to send a separate request to the source and, where appropriate, to other search engines that independently index the page.

If the issue involves impersonation, fraud, doxxing, or unwanted personal-photo reuse, use the personal image safety workflow to preserve evidence and choose the correct reporting category. For creator-owned work, follow the stolen-image response guide before sending a rights notice.

Opt-out and removal questions

Do I need to provide identity documents?

Not in the first message. Start with the exact URLs, your relationship to the material, and the requested action. If verification is necessary, it should be proportionate to the request.

Can someone submit a request for another person?

A parent, guardian, authorized representative, or rights holder may explain that relationship. Do not send sensitive proof until the review identifies what is actually needed.

What if I only have a screenshot?

Send the screenshot and describe when and where the result appeared. Also include any visible domain, page title, or result text that can help locate the underlying record.

What if the image appears again?

A different source page or newly crawled copy may create a separate record. Send the new URL or result details so it can be distinguished from the earlier request.

Does this remove results from other search services?

No. Other services maintain separate records and removal processes. An ImageReverse action applies only to records controlled by ImageReverse.
